One of the latest new multimedia all-in-one devices to hit the market, the new i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 features a large 2.8" sliding touchscreen with a QWERTY keyboard below. More attractive than most sliding keyboard smartphones, the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 offer more space than other smartphones but is less touch-sensitive.

Supporting Windows Mobile 6 Professional, the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 has Bluetooth 2.0 WiFi connectivity, an expandable and removable microSD card, and quad-band GSM at 850/900/1800/1900Mhz. The main advantage of the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 over the Apple iPhone is its 3.0 megapixel camera that captures video along with photographs, and has autofocus; and a built-in GPS receiver.

The i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 like the iPhone has a touch screen, along with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard. Heavier and with a shorter battery life, the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 can still connect to a projector or a larger display for its VGA video. Featuring typical cellular phone capabilities such as call waiting, forwarding, and call hold, the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 does not however possess the iPhone's unique visual voicemail, which allows you to choose and listen to any voicemail you want in any order you please.

Packed with software, the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 comes with Microsoft Office in pocket versions of Excel, Powerpoint, Word, and Messenger, along with Windows Media Player and Clearvue PDF. The i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 can also record voices and has a built-in FM tuner. With a maximum resolution of 640 x 480 and 18-bit color support, the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 offers some of the best display resolution of any other competitor handheld. However, it still works with limited software, which does not offer you the brilliant and intuitive interface of the iPhone.

While the i-Mate's Ultimate 9502 does not have the intuitive ease of use of the iPhone, it still offers a lot of value for the amount of features packed into this handheld device. The slide-out keyboard offers ease of use but is not as responsive as the iPhone interface.

The biggest difference however comes in price. While the i-Mate Ultimate 9502's price remains to be announced, estimates range from a minimum price of $900 to around $1200. You could buy 3 iPhones for the same price! This comparison shows quite clearly that the iPhone radically departs from other PDAs and cellular phones on the market by offering an all-in-one device that is packed full with sophisticated software and is easy to use, intuitive, elegant, and affordable!
