Apple iPhone vs. HTC Android Inredible

Devices on the Google Android platform have been out for a little while now, and there still is no clear shot winner in the iPhone – Android war. Let us not forget, however, that HTC was the first to release a Google phone, and therefore, of the Android device makers, arguably has the greatest experience and the longest track record with the OS. And on April 29, HTC is rolling out its latest Google Android smartphone, the HTC Droid Incredible. How incredible is it? And, getting to the bottom line, how does it stack up against the iPhone 3GS?

The Incredible runs on Google Android 2.1 with a display screen that boasts HTC’s latest Sense user interface technology which has multitasking features. The iPhone 3GS does not have multitasking features, although it is rumored to be a part of the coming release of the iPhone OS upgrade, iPhone 4.0. And pretty soon we’ll be comparing this and all new cameras coming out to the upcoming iPhone 4G. But that’s in the future.

The display screen on the Droid Incredible is 3.7” to the iPhone’s 3.5” . The iPhone 3GS processor is allegedly 600MHz, with 256MB of RAM compared to the Incredible’s 1 GHz Snapdragon processor. So while the iPhone 3GS is faster than the iPhone 3G, it’s not faster than the Droid Incredible.

The Incredible has a better digital camera: 5 mp to the iPhone 3GS’s 3.0. Plus the Incredible includes a front-facing camera. The iPhone on the other hand has more storage, with 16 GB and 32 GB (depending on the model) to the Incredible’s 8 GB. But the Incredible has a microSD card slot for expandable storage whereas the iPhone does not.

The Incredible measures 4.63”x 2.3” x 0.47” and weighs about 4.59 oz. The iPhone 3GS measures 4.5” x 2.4” x 0.48” and weighs about 4.8 oz., making them both similar in dimension, with the iPhone being a tad heavier.

Another big difference between the two is carrier. The HTC Droid Incredible will be on Verizon and the iPhone 3GS is, of course, on AT&T.

The HTC Droid Incredible currently costs $200 without need for rebate. Verizon requires a 2 year contract at minimum $40 voice plan plus $30 internet data plan.
