iPhoneMobileMob.com - Microsoft iPhone App

Microsoft iPhone App Released

In a departure from developing for its own Windows Mobile operating system, the programmers at Microsoft's Live Labs have taken some time to tap into Apple's profit pool by coming up with Microsoft's very first - and surely not its last - iPhone app.

The free application, called "Seadragon Mobile", was added to the iTunes App Store just yesterday, Saturday, December 13, and is an imagge-browing application with what it calls "deep zooming" capabilities.

If you're familiar with Microsoft Photosynth then Seadragon will be quite familiar to you as well. Photosynth lets users group photos together, linking them in a 3D-type environment.

Possibly next in Microsoft's iPhone App line will be a voice-activated search tool for iPhones and other devices, like the BlackBerry, what many anticipated would actually be Microsoft's first iPhone app.

Oddly enough, because of the iPhone's popularity and cutting-edge graphics processing unit, Live Labs has not even developed a Windows Mobile version of Seadragon.
