Business Customers Beat iPhone 3G Lines

In the face of inventory shortages and round-the-block lines, even a month after the iPhone 3G’s release, many customers are finding a new iPhone 3G hard to come by. But not business customers.

As part of its Premier Enterprise program, AT&T has announced that on its website it is selling both the $199 8 Gig and $299 16 Gig versions of the iPhone 3G for enterprise customers (with a 2-year contract).

Delivery may still take a week to ten days, but at least busy businessmen and women won’t have to waste their time (or, let’s face it, their assistants’) waiting in line at the nearest Apple Retail Store only to find that no more handsets are left in stock.

This is the latest push in marketing the iPhone 3G to enterprise customers. The 2nd generation device has already been designed with business customers’ needs in mind, including:

  • push email
  • Microsoft Exchange support
  • built-in VPN
  • remote wiping
  • compatibility with many 3rd party enterprise applications

Another exciting development in the works is the upcoming September 7 availability of iPhone 3G’s for sale in Best Buy stores across the nation.
