Apple has announced that 3rd party developers will be able to create custom Web
2.0 applications for use on the new Apple iPhone. This puts to rest earlier
rumors that only Apple would be able to add features to the iPhone. Users are
now free to add custom features to their iPhone without having to worry about
compromising the security and integrity of the iPhone itself.
While Web 2.0 based applications have been available for many years, they were
first used on the mainstream web by Google when it introduced its Web 2.0 Google
Maps. Web 2.0 applications can easily be developed and distributed across the
internet and are easily updated by simply changing the code on the developers web server.
The current Web 2.0 standards also provide reliable security as many online
banking institutions and online shopping centers use the Web 2.0 applications
for check out.
