iPhone generates interest in Cingular
Apple’s new iPhone is also generating more interest and appeal for the Cingular/AT&T's
wireless network. A survey conducted by ChangeWave found that interest in the new
iPhone remains as strong as it did in January with the first announcement of the
new product at MacWorld in San Francisco, CA.
The survey also revealed a loss of interest in both Motorola and Verizon, offering
an increase in interest in Cingular Wireless, bringing its shares up to 27% of
market shares, as Cingular Wireless has become the most popular choice for wireless
provider for future purchases, outstretching Verizon comfortably.
Polling nearly 3,500 people for a period of six days in April, all members of the
ChangeWave Alliance, consisting of more than 10,000 professionals in the business,
technology, and medical professions at the forefront of change in industry, the
ChangeWave survey reveals strong interest. With 1 out of 10 respondents or 9% saying
that they would buy the iPhone when it is launched, and another 7% saying that they
would buy the iPhone as a gift, this survey reveals the hot demand for the new product.
79% say that they would drop their current wireless carrier and switch to Cingular/AT&T
Wireless.
