Apple iPhone #1 in Customer Satisfaction

According to the latest report by reputed analysts J.D. Power and Associates, the iPhone is the number one smartphone based on customer satisfaction in the business smartphone market. This while the technology market as a whole is in a decline. But as per the results of 3 different studies just released, the iPhone continues to reign supreme. And that is especially saying a lot considering that RIM and its Blackberry line are "supposed to be" the leaders in business smartphones, with the iPhone still traditionally thought of as a multimedia smartphone.

The 3 studies are:

  • The 2009 Wireless Consumer Smartphone Customers Satisfaction Study, Vol. 2
  • The 2009 Wireless Business Smartphone Satisfaction Study
  • The 2009 Wireless Traditional Mobile Phone Satisfaction Study, Vol. 2.

Each of the studies ranks the various mobile handsets on a scale of 1,000 points, evaluating factors like: ease of operation, operating system, features, physical design, and battery function. The iPhone scored the highest by far, with 811 points among consumer users and an 803 among consumer users. Blackberry took second place in the business category with 724, while it slipped to third (behind LG) in the consumer category.

This is a particularly favorable announcement for Apple and iPhone-lovers as it comes at a time when AT&T is suffering from a record 30% dropped-call rate.

This bodes well for Apple into the coming smartphone holiday season and beyond as the iPhone takes top ranking among the people who matter - its users - no longer just in the category of a music and multi-media phone but as a business smartphone as well.
